Furniture and Style Trends for 2025!
Furniture Row’s Insights from High Point Market
As we step into 2025, the world of interior design is buzzing with excitement. After the success of our most recent trip to High Point Market, our team is excited to keep you updated on the latest furniture trends you can expect to see this year.
High Point Market is the largest home furnishings industry event in the world, spanning across showrooms throughout downtown High Point North Carolina. This is where top manufacturers showcase their newest collections and set the tone for upcoming trends.
Our experience at High Point was particularly inspiring, offering a glimpse into the bold, vibrant, and unexpected future of home decor and furniture design.
Trend 1: Character Makes a Comeback!
As we noted in last year’s 2024 Interior Design Trends Blog Post, we are no longer living in the time when interiors have to be full of straight lines and neutral colors. That’s right, 2025 is the year we officially say bye-bye to the cookie-cutter, minimalist look that has been dominating contemporary homes for decades!
Currently, there's a strong pull to depart from uniformity and embrace furniture that feels truly unique and speaks to your personality.
The Collected Look
Part of adding more personality to your space is achieving a “collected look”. Instead of buying a matching set, homeowners are now opting to mix-and-match pieces with different styles, bringing them together within a room to stunning effect.

- Balance of Old and New: One of the most popular ways to achieve the collected look is pairing furniture with vintage charm together with modern pieces. Think of a contemporary leather sofa next to a wingback accent chair in a study, or a dining table surrounded by different types of dining chairs. The unexpected combination instantly instills a sense of character.

- Storied Decor: In 2025, people also are finding new ways to showcase their collected treasures from family history and travels. Rather than hiding behind sleek cabinetry, these personal items are taking center stage on accent pieces and open shelves, adding additional layers of personality.
Embracing Eccentricity
If there's one thing we learned at High Point Market, it's that 2025 is the year of bold, vibrant and eye-catching furniture. People are loving eclectic and eccentric pieces now more than ever because they unlock your creative freedom and invite you to actually enjoy the space you live in!
- Maximalist Color Motifs: Get ready to see maximalist color patterns making a splash in every room. We're seeing bright, colorful patterns adorning sofas, chairs, and even traditionally-minded pieces like armoires and sideboards. These eclectic color schemes are being used to create focal points in rooms, mixing innovative color combinations for rooms with unrivaled character.

- Retro Designs & Earth Tones: Many of the colors, shapes, and textures of the 70’s are back with a bang! Mossy greens, terracottas, and mustard colors are replacing neutral colors in 2025 (check out our post for more on 2025 Color Trends). We are also seeing curved, furry, and overstuffed upholstery moving into showroom floors across the country!
- Head-Turning Design Elements: Aside from colors, many pieces of furniture are being made distinctive features that set them apart. Dining chairs with unexpected cutouts, geometrically shaped furniture that doubles as art, and items with sleek, innovative construction materials are all expected to trend in 2025.

Trend 2: Wood Craftsmanship Takes Center Stage
In 2025, wood is making a triumphant return to the spotlight, bringing warmth and character to our homes. From pieces that showcase stunning wood grain to innovative exposed wood accents, this trend celebrates the beauty of the natural material that is so central to our lives.

Wood Accents and Chunky Table Bases
Wood instills a peaceful, grounding presence in any space it inhabits, and last year was big for exposed wood bases on sofas and chairs. Our experts only expect to see more wood in more places in 2025, from tables with chunky post legs to exposed wood accents on furniture frames and even upholstered headboards.

- Crashing the Upholstery Party: In 2025, exposed wood accents are breaking out from the bases of sofas and bed frames. Now, they’re finding their way to sofa arms and armchairs, and we’re even seeing them placed prominently in the headboards of upholstered beds.

- Chunky Post Legs & Pedestal Bases: Aside from being used as an accent on upholstered pieces, wood is also becoming more emphasized on dining room furniture like tables and chairs. Be on the lookout for tables with chunky post legs and thick-cut pedestal bases made from hardwoods like maple, oak, and teak.
Tambor: The New Shiplap
Named for its resemblance to the exterior of a drum, Tambor is the latest exposed wood detailing trend that’s sweeping the nation.
- Tambor is available in beaded (convex wood slats), reeded (flat wood slats), and fluted (concave wood slats) varieties, offering a range of textural options.
- Tambor in furniture adds subtle texture and design flair without the need for costly and time-consuming DIY wall treatments, making it an accessible option for many homeowners.

Trend 3: Round and Curved Shapes
Curved furniture’s upward trajectory seems to have no end in sight! Yes, the strictness of straight lines and pointed edges is continuing to give way to a more relaxed, rounded form in 2025, with curved designs replacing rectangular options in a wide variety of products.

- Arched tops and backrests are dominating showroom floors, from sofas and accent chairs to bookshelves china cabinets. These soft, flowing lines create a sense of movement, grace, and grandeur in interior spaces.

- Round and circular pieces like side tables and coffee tables are not just aesthetically pleasing, they also are perfect for small spaces, and for creating laid back, comfy seating arrangements that encourage conversation.
Trend 4: Sensory Experience
2025 is all about engaging the senses through authentic textures and inviting shapes. It’s a year where texture is no longer a printed illusion on fabrics; it's authentically there to experience in every way you can.

Tactile Fabrics
- Upholstered pieces featuring boucle, shearling, tweed, and twill fabrics are becoming hugely popular in 2025. These textures invite interaction and add depth to furniture pieces.
- Channeling and corduroy furniture are also demanding attention with their bold, three-dimensional textures that catch both the eye and the hand.

Immersive Furniture
- Furnishings that offer an immersive effect, such as canopy beds and wraparound chairs, are becoming more prominent in 2025. These pieces provide a cocooning effect, which blocks out stress-inducing external stimuli.
- Experiential art is also becoming more immersive and tactile as we are seeing more embroidered pieces, framed textiles, textured lacquer, and crystals affixed atop an image.

Trend 5: A Focus on Wellbeing
Good news: the emphasis on personal and environmental wellbeing is definitely going to continue in 2025. This year, we're seeing a significant shift towards creating spaces that not only look beautiful but also contribute positively to our physical and mental health, whether it’s through bringing nature indoors, personal pampering, or embracing sustainable materials.
Biophilia in Design
Biophilia is defined as “the human tendency to interact or be closely associated with other forms of life and nature” - and it’s a definite trend for 2025!
- Biophilia is manifesting in today’s room designs through the use of house plants, organic shapes, botanical prints, and unfinished natural materials like stone and wood.
- A desire to be closer to nature is tied to health and wellness because of its demonstrated ability to decrease stress and to be a mood lifter.

Environmentally Conscious and Sustainable
Part of the focus on wellbeing is on the wellbeing of the planet as there is a growing focus on furniture made from sustainable materials.
- Soft sofa fabrics and pieces made from recycled water bottles, as well as beds and tables crafted from sustainable woods like mango wood and beetle kill, are becoming more requested and widely available.

Zero Gravity
You can now defy gravity - and chronic pain - in your own home in 2025 because the Zero Gravity function is coming to a wide variety of reclining furniture!

Featured above: the Astra Power Reclining Loveseat
- Zero gravity recliners are designed to simulate weightlessness by allowing you to recline so that your feet are above heart level so weight is evenly distributed along your body.
- This position has been shown to take pressure off your spine and joints, promote improved blood circulation, and aid relaxation and tranquility.
Trend 6: Function Meets Fashion
In 2025, furniture isn't just about looks - it's about creating experiences that enhance our daily lives while maintaining style and elegance. This new approach to furniture design seamlessly blends form and function, offering pieces that add value and beauty to our homes while also actively contributing to our comfort and productivity.
Multifunctional Marvels
- Shape-shifting furniture that adapts to changing needs and spaces is going to be huge in 2025. The bookshelf that doubles as shoe storage or the entryway bench that now sits at the foot of your bed - these are the true home heroes of the future.

- Storage solutions are being cleverly integrated into furniture in unexpected places. Look for bed frames with drawers in the footboard, sectional seats that open to store blankets, and coffee tables with lift tops to house remotes, coasters, or chargers.
- Tech-Integrated Comfort: Sofas with built-in surround sound and vibrating seats are enhancing movie nights, turning living rooms into immersive entertainment centers. Massage chairs with aromatherapy features are taking relaxation to new heights, offering a spa-like experience in the comfort of your own home.
